Originally from Mumbai, India, she has a background in Human Resources and is currently an HR Intern at NBC Universal. When she\u2019s not busy with her studies and work, she enjoys cooking, reading, crocheting, and exploring new experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why did you choose to study at CBU?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/b><\/h2>\n

CBU\u2019s Industrial-Organizational Psychology program stood out for its balance of theory and hands-on practical experience. The faculty and staff were incredibly helpful during the application process, making my decision even easier. And of course\u2014who wouldn\u2019t want to study in California?<\/span><\/p>\n

How important was the international student community to you when researching schools?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Having a supportive international community was a major factor for me. Before applying, I met with Daphne Kieling, an international admissions counselor, who spoke so highly of CBU\u2019s welcoming environment. Once I arrived, I saw firsthand how helpful and approachable the International Center was. Life at CBU<\/a> is truly everything an international student hopes for.<\/span><\/p>\n

How important were internship and career outcomes to you when choosing a school?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Career opportunities were a top priority. Studying abroad is about <\/span>gaining real-world experience<\/b>, and CBU\u2019s <\/span>location and program structure<\/b> made it easy to gain hands-on experience through practicum courses and freelance consulting projects each semester.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are some memorable on-campus jobs or internship experiences you\u2019ve had?<\/b><\/h2>\n

One of my most rewarding experiences has been working as a student worker at the <\/span>Dr. Paul and Annie Kienel Leadership Institute<\/span><\/a>, an interdisciplinary think tank on campus. Under the guidance of Dr. Kiker and Rindi Singh, I helped develop their LinkedIn and social media presence, gaining hands-on experience in digital strategy and professional branding while working in a US setting.<\/span><\/p>\n

My internship at NBC Universal has been another highlight, allowing me to explore organizational culture and HR strategy in a corporate environment. I\u2019ve worked on employee surveys, DEI training modules, and HR business partner support, giving me practical exposure to HR functions, workplace engagement, and diversity initiatives. These experiences have not only helped me grow professionally but also strengthened my understanding of the US job market and corporate culture.<\/span><\/p>\n

What student organizations are you involved in at CBU?<\/b><\/h2>\n

I\u2019m an <\/span>International Student Ambassador<\/b>, where I help <\/span>prospective and incoming international students<\/b> navigate their journey at CBU. Moving to a new country for university can be exciting but also overwhelming, and I know firsthand how valuable it is to have guidance and support. Through this role, I connect with students, answer their questions about <\/span>academics, student life<\/a>, and career opportunities<\/b>, and help them feel more confident about their decision.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why did you join as an admissions ambassador?\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Being part of the CBU community means fostering a <\/span>welcoming and uplifting environment<\/b> where students can <\/span>excel personally, academically, and professionally.<\/b> I know how challenging it can be to navigate the application and transition process as an international student, and I wanted to <\/span>give back<\/b> by offering the same support that helped me.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is a day in the life of an international student like at CBU?<\/b><\/h2>\n

While studying abroad is exciting, it also comes with moments of uncertainty\u2014being away from home, adjusting to a new culture, and navigating career paths can feel unfamiliar and uncertain at times. The best way to deal with these challenges is by building a strong support system, staying connected with loved ones, and embracing new experiences with an open mind.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CBU provides countless resources dedicated to international students, from <\/span>career services and student organizations to mental health support and faith-based guidance<\/b>, ensuring that students always have the help they need.<\/span><\/p>\n

My advice to incoming students?<\/b> Be proactive, ask for help when needed, and take every opportunity to engage with the community. <\/span>Studying abroad is a transformative journey, and with the right mindset, it can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

What can prospective international students ask you about?\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

I\u2019m happy to share insights on <\/span>student life, academic programs, career opportunities, on-campus jobs, and financial aid<\/a>.<\/b><\/p>\n

What was your experience with financial aid at CBU?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Applying for <\/span>financial aid<\/a> at CBU was a <\/span>straightforward process<\/b>\u2014I simply submitted a form and the required financial documents. Initially, I received a <\/span>$2,000 grant<\/b>, and after reapplying, my aid was <\/span>increased to $4,000<\/b>, which made a significant difference for me and my family. I\u2019d love to help prospective students understand their options and make the most of the financial resources available at CBU.<\/span><\/p>\n
